AMEA - Anits Mechanical Engineers Association

The department of Mechanical Engineering started an association “AMEA”(ANITS MECHANICAL ENGINEERS ASSOSIATION) on July 30th 2008. It was inaugurated by Prof. P. Ramakrishna Rao, Director(R&D), Prof. R. Govardhana Rao, Director(Admin), Prof. D. Ganapathi Rao, Principal. Prof. T.V. Hanumantha Rao, HOD, Department of Mechanical Engineering, ANITS is the Chairman of the association.

The association is very active in organizing various events in the department and is successfully conducting National level Technical Symposiums named “IGNITION” every year since its inception.

Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) Collegiate Club

Making students get indulged in various activities of their streams of interest through self involvement and it is achieved through student organization clubs. One such club is Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) Collegiate Club. Its main objective is to broaden the boundaries of students by practical thinking and approaches. On 03.09.16, the SAE Collegiate Club at ANITS is inaugurated by Prof. T. V. Hanumantha Rao, Principal, ANITS. On this occasion, he emphasized the importance of college clubs for the professional growth of engineers. He added that the students shall make use of this platform and expose their talents and innovative abilities in the field of Mechanical Engineering. On this inaugural ceremony, Prof. B. Naga Raju, HOD of Mechanical Engg., M. Prem Dheeraj, Faculty Advisor-SAE Club, Mr. K. Hemanth Kumar, Student President-SAE Club and other senior professors along with the Office Bearers of SAE Club have participated.


Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) launched 6 student chapters along with awareness programme on Green Buildings on 15th February 2016 at 9:30 Hrs at Kala Bharathi Auditorium, Maddilapalem, Visakhapatnam. During the event lectures on “Green Building Movement – An update” was delivered by S Srinivas, Deputy Executive Director, CII Godrej GBC. IGBC ANITS student chapter coordinator Dr. K. Siva Prasad and students of Mechanical, Civil and EEE participated in the event. During the event Visakhapatnam Member of Parliament Dr. K. Hari Babu presented the membership certificate to student chapters.


Indian Society for Heating Refrigeration Engineers (ISHRAE), Visakhapatanam Chapter had started student chapter of ANITS on 4th January 2009. Pre final and final year students of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering joined as student members and Mr.K.Siva Prasad, Assistant Professor, Mechanical Engineering was appointed as faculty Advisor for ISHRAE student chapter of ANITS.

ISHRAE Visakhapatnam chapter had organised a technical presentation on “ENERGY CONSERVATION IN GREEN BUILDINGS” by Shri Ashih Rakheja, National president, ISHRAE, New Delhi on 4th January 2009 at GVP Degree College. An Exhibition of various industrial products related to HVAC are displayed.

ISHRAE student chapter of ANITS had organised expert lecture on “GREEN BUILDINGS” on 28th March 2009 at ANITS campus. Prof. Vishal Garg, IIIT Hyderabad has delivered the expert lecture on that occasion. Students from ANITS, GVP Engineering College and AU Architecture had attended the expert lecture.

ISHRAE Visakhapatnam chapter in association with Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) organised Energy survey program at Visakhapatnam for various commercial buildings in May 2009. Pre-Final year students of Mechanical Engineering, ANITS had participated in the Energy survey program.

ISHRAE Visakhapatnam chapter and IGBC has organisied Seminar on “GREEN BUILDINGS” on 30th August 2009 at AU Platinum Jubilee Guest House. Around 80 students from ANITS attended the seminar. On the same day Painting competition was organised for school children.

ISHRAE has started its National Journal which comes quarterly. Soft copy of journal in CD format is issued all the members of ISHRAE. A copy of ISHRAE journal is available at ANITS central library for ready reference.

ISHRAE had released hand book on GREEN BUILDINGS on 30th August 2009.


On 30th September 2011, The Mechanical Engineering Department of ANITS has taken its first step in enhancing the technical knowledge of the students in the field of robotics by inaugurating the robotics club “CYBORG”.

CYBORG provides a platform for the students with zeal to excel in the field of robotics, Which is one of the emerging fields of the modern technologies.

CYBORG is inaugurated by Prof. V.S.R.K. Prasad, Principal ANITS in the presence of eminent personalities like Prof. R. Govardhana Rao (Director-Admin), Prof. K.V.S.V.N. Raju (Director-R&D) , Prof. T.V.Hanumantha Rao (HOD,Mechanical). Faculty and club members are also attended for the inaugural.

Addressing the large gathering, Prof V.S.R.K. Prasad gave an inspiring speech about the importance of robotics in the upcoming technologies in Mechanical Engineering and also stressed on the importance of such technical clubs in the campus. Prof. R. Govardhana Rao expressed his happiness about the formation of this club.

Prof. T.V. Hanumantha Rao, HOD Mechanical enlighten the students with his speech about various advanced trends in the field of Robotics around the globe. The student coordinator N.Sailesh, (IV/IV Mechanical) explained about the objectives of the club.
