The Department of Mechanical Engineering has conducted a three day national workshop on "Raspberry Pi for advanced robotics" in collaboration with AICRA” on 25/7/2019 to 27/7/2019. The programme was formally inaugurated by Prof.T.V.Hanumantha Rao, Principal and Dr.B.NagaRaju (Head of the Mech .Engg. Dept.), ANITS have graced the occasion. Tech Fest “IGNITION 2K19 "

The 10th Anniversary of the technical fest “IGNITION” designated as IGNITION 2k19 started off on a colourful note in the Dept. of Mechanical Engg, ANITS. Sri K C Das, Director(Personnel), Vizag Steel Plant graced the occasion. Sri Charan, CEO stuMagz was the guest of honor. The program was initiated by lighting of the holy lamp by all the dignitaries on the dias which included Dr.T Subrahmanyam, Principal, Dr.B Naga Raju, HoD(Mechanical) and I Yashwanth kumar, student president.

The Head of the Dept. welcomed the august gathering and gave a note on the achievements of the dept since its inception. He congratulated the students of II & III year (Mechanical) for their innovative models which would not have been possible without the encouragement of the Principal. The students were advised by the principal to do certification courses which will add to their profile and will aid in their careers. He stressed on the importance of communication skills along with the technical skills. The guest of honor, Sri Charan gave a deep insight of the typical qualities that a successful entrepreneur should possess. He motivated the students by his exuberant speech. Sri K C Das chief guest advised the students not to use gadgets extensively. He further said that the students should transform themselves into responsible citizens and show concern for the societal needs. The program ended with the vote of thanks by the co-ordinator of the event.

SAE collegiate club, Department of Mechanical Engineering, ANITS has organised a 3 day National workshop on “Design and development of E-mobility vehicle” in collaboration with imagine 2 innovate on 23rd -25th August, 2018. The programme was formally inaugurated by Dr.N.B.R.Prasad, Chairman of ANITS, Prof.T. Subrahmanyam, Principal and Dr.B.NagaRaju (Head of the Mech .Engg. Dept.), ANITS have graced the occasion. The students of Mechanical Engineering Department showed keen interest in the workshop which focuses on the applications of electric vehicle. Mr. M. Prem Dheeraj (the coordinator of workshop) and the resource persons from imagine to innovate will cover different aspects of Electric vehicles and their scope in near future for meeting the VISION of our Prime Minister in promoting E-Vehicles.

Valedictory

The One Week (11th to 16th June,2018) Induction Programme titled “ADVANCES IN HYBRID POLYMER COMPOSITE ENGINEERING AND APPLICATIONS” organized by the Department of Mechanical Engineering, ANITS under the sponsorship of AICTE-ISTE has concluded successfully today. The chief guest for the valedictory function was Dr. Ch. Ramadas, Scientist ‘F’, DRDO, Pune and P Vamsi Krishna, Associate Professor, NIT Warangal presided as the guest of honour. Dr N.B.R Prasad, chairman ANES; Dr T. V. Hanumantha Rao, Principal and Dr B.Nagaraju HOD & coordinator for the programme, presided over the function.
The participants from different colleges were satisfied with the 22 technical sessions spread over six days and the arrangements for the programme. The participants were presented with the certificates by the chief guest and the guest of honour. The coordinator of the programme thanked all the participants, Principal and the management for their unstinted support. He said that the participants can choose their topic for doctorial research from composites and seek the help of resource persons.

Inauguration

The department of Mechanical Engineering is organising AICTE-ISTE sponsored one week Induction programme starting from June 11th 2018. The theme of the programme is ADVANCES IN HYBRID POLYMER COMPOSITE ENGINEERING AND APPLICATIONS.
The inaugural function was graced by Dr K. Ramji Vice-chancellor of Dr BR AMBEDKAR University, Srikakulam; Dr VVSS Bhasakara Raju, Additional Director in NSTL; Dr NBR PRASAD chairman ANES; Dr TV HANUMANTHA RAO, Principal and Dr B.NAGARAJU H.O.D & COORIDINATOR for the programme, preceded over the function.
The chairman stressed on the importance of the research and advised all the faculty to pursue their doctorial programmes and the management will provide the support. The Principal of Institution spoke on the applications of composite in day to day life. Dr VVS Bhaskara Raju, scientist in NSTL said that composites is one of the areas where there is a lot of scope for research and faculty from premier institutions are showing inclination to do research in this area. Dr. K Ramji said that research in composites should not be restricted to evaluation of their properties alone but should be extended to product development useful to the society at large. The coordinator Dr. B Naga Raju invited the gathering and further said that a wide spectrum of resource persons from industries, research laboratories and premier academic institutions will be sharing their experience in their technical expertise in the field of composites. The participants can utilise the opportunity to assimilate knowledge and further use it for research.

IGNITION 2K18, a two-day National technical fest being conducted by the department of Mechanical Engineering, ANITS took off to a scintillating start with the inaugural ceremony. Prof. K. Ramji, Vice-Chancellor, Dr. B.R Ambedkar University presided over as the chief guest. Dr. N.B.R Prasad, Chairman, ANES, Prof. T.V Hanumantha Rao, Principal, ANITS, Prof. B. Naga Raju, HOD, Mechanical Engineering and Y. Anil Kumar, Student President graced the occasion.

Students from various colleges and Universities were all present to showcase their technical prowess. The HOD highlighted about various activities undertaken by the department. The Principal advised the students to be highly innovative and inquisitive. The chairman’s message to the students was very philosophical and advised them to grab the opportunities in various fields.

Prof. K. Ramji thanked the management for giving this opportunity. He said that ANITS is unique in maintaining the student-faculty ratio and advised the management to seek a strategic plan to compete with the best. He also advised to start ‘Skill Development Programs’ and incubation centers to enhance the employability of the students. The ceremony concluded with the vote of thanks by the faculty coordinator Mr.B.B.Ashok Kumar.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering has organized a two day workshop on “Applications of Non-destructive Testing in Industrial Sector” in collaboration with National academy for training & technical services (NATTS) on 14th and 15th February, 2018. The programme was formally inaugurated by Dr.N.B.R.Prasad, Chairman of ANITS. Prof.T.V.Hanumantha Rao, Principal and Dr.B.NagaRaju (Head of the Mech .Engg. Dept.), ANITS have graced the occasion. The students of Mechanical Engineering Department showed keen interest in the workshop which focuses on the practical applications of NDT methods. Mr.B. Pradeep kumar (the coordinator of workshop) and the resource persons from NATTS will cover different aspects of NDT in the sessions.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering, ANITS has organized a 2 day National Seminar on “Micro Manufacturing Techniques” on 24th and 25th November 2017.Various topics on latest micro manufacturing Processes like Micro machining, Nanotechnogy & Charactersation Techniques, MEMS, Micro forming techniques were presented and discussed during the seminar. Eminent speakers like Dr. A. Ratna Kumar (IIT Madras), Dr.V.Vasu (NIT Warangal), Dr. C. Manoj Kumar (NIT Raipur), Dr. A. Srinivasula Reddy SVU, Tirupathi, Dr.M.V.Jaganatha Raju (AU, Visakhapatnam) delivered lectures in the seminar. About 56 faculty members and students from various colleges have participated in the seminar. Prof.Ch. Ratnam, Head of Department, Mechanical Department, Andhra University was the Chief guest of the seminar.

Workshop on “AUTOTRIX 2017 "

The Department of Mechanical Engineering has organised a two day National level workshop on “Automobile Explorations – Autotrix 2017’ on 15th and 16th Dec 2017. The programme was formally inaugurated by Dr.N.B.R.Prasad, Chairman of ANITS. Prof.T.V.Hanumantha Rao, Principal, ANITS has graced the occasion. The students of SAE Collegiate Club of ANITS have actively participated in the workshop which was focused on all the emerging trends and innovations in Automobile field. The hands on practical session in assembling and disassembling of four wheeler and two wheelers enriched more than 100 student with great experience. Dr.B.NagaRaju (Head of the Dept.), Mr.M.Prem Dheeraj (coordinator of workshop), Resource person Mr. Hareesh Dasari (Deputy Manager in Mahindra & Mahindra) and other senior faculty participated in the programme.

IGNITION 2K17, A mega National level 2 day Technical fest organized by the Department of Mechanical engineering on 22nd and 23rd Feb,2017. ANITS took of to a glittering start on this day. The occasion was graced by the chairman of Anil Neerukonda Educational Society (ANES), Principal, HOD and President of student’s mechanical association. Parthasaradhi Ghosh, DGM Sinter plant, Visakhapatnam Steel Plant has given due consent to be the chief guest. The HOD,Dr.B.Naga Raju briefed the gathering on the genesis of the department and its growth over the years. Principal Dr.T.V.Hanumantha Rao congratulated the department for the arrangements. He further wishedgood luck to all the participants. The Chairman of the institute congratulated the students of go-kart who brought laurels to the department. He further emphasised that Mechanical, Civil and Electrical engineers are the builders of the country. The chief guest enthralled the audience with his technical prowess and shared his technical experiences with the gathering. He further wished that fest would be a grand success and thanked the organisers for opportunity given to him.

Workshop on “Automobile and Vehicle dynamics 2016"

The Department of Mechanical Engineering hosted a 5 days workshop on "Automobile and Vehicle dynamics" from 2nd to 6th March, 2016. The resource person for this workshop is Mr. Kushal Singh, former Formula-1 race Marshall. This workshop focused on enriching the students understanding about basic automobile working and few design aspects of automobile components. All the participants had enjoyed the rich experience of assembling and disassembling multi cylinder engine components during the last day of this workshop..

Workshop on “3D Student Challange 2015"

The Department of Mechanical Engineering, ANITS has organized a Workshop on "3D Student Challange 2015" on 10th July 2015. Mr. G. Divakar, Mr. P. Prasad, Mr. Praveen & Mr. Prasanth are resoruce persons from Auto Desk. They demonstrated Auto Desk Inventor & Autodestk Revit softwares related to 3D Student design challenge competition. Total 50 students have attended the workshop.

National Seminar on “ Recent Trends in Mechanical Engineering"

The Department of Mechanical Engineering, ANITS has organized a one day National Seminar on “Recent Trends in Mechanical Engineering” on 14th March 2015. Prof D. Ravi kumar, IIT Delhi, delivered and expert lecture on Recent Trends in Manufacturing Technology, Dr. R.P. Naik, IISC Bangalore, delivered an expert lecture on recent developments in IC Engines. Total 30 participants have attended the seminar.

Communication skills as a tool for professionalism

The department has organized a FDP programme for the Mech. Dept. faculty from 18.06.2014 to 20.01.2014. Lectures were organized on different themes such as “Open course software and its advantages” by CSE department, “ Communication skills as a tool for professionalism” by Dr Datta Sri, MATLAB by EEE dept and “ Qualities of a good teacher and teaching methodologies” by the senior faculty of the Mechanical Department.

The department of Mechanical engineering organized a seminar "Entrepreneurship - A Growth Paradigm for Next-Gen" under EDC cell on 19.03.2014 and 20.03.2014. E- Manufacturing, Nano-manufacturing, Hybrid welding and modular manufacturing were presented and discussed during the seminar. Eminent speakers like Dr CSP Rao, Dr. Pandranga, Dr Gopala Krishna, Dr A Balakrishna and Dr. Jagannadha Raju from premium institutions like NIT's, IIT and others have covered these topics. About 50 faculty members and students from various colleges have participated in the seminar. Prof. D. Nageswara Rao, Vice Chancellor, Centurion University has urged the faculty to take up research in the emerging areas. Coordinator of the AICTE sponsored programme Mr. K.Sivaprasad had also made a presentation on the topic.

Dr. Kondapi. Phandeendra, an Engineering Manager, Flow Management at FMC Technologies and KBR Adjunct Professor of Subsea Engineering at University of Houston, Texas presented an informative guest lecture on “Need for Industry Ready Education” at ANITS on 16-07-2013

Dr. Phandeendra emphasized the needs of success are Energy, Integrity and Delivery for a successful career in the industry. He explained novel teaching technique, “Reverse Circular Teaching Technique” developed by him to create interest among the students and also for better understanding of the subject. He enlightened that success can be achieved by three step process comprising of understanding concepts, meeting course requirements and getting ready for industry. He also stressed that students should acquire Management, Leadership, Communication and Presentation skills to reach higher positions in their chosen career. Prof .V.S.R.K. Objectives of the Training Program

This training program aims at providing hands on training session for the faculty in various features added in Ansys 14.0 and Ansys Workbench. The training program is very much essential for the faculty as Ansys Corporation has modified the interface and elements used in analysis of Mechanical Engineering Problems. The resource person concentrated more on the features of the workbench and explained the advantages for part modeling in Ansys Workbench. Ansys has improved analysis capabilities in Ansys classic, importing the part model from other modeling packages. In this package APDL is very useful to solve modeling and analysis problems by writing program files, and those files imported to ANSYS and problems can be solved directly.

Workshop on SOLIDWORKS-2012

The Department of Mechanical Engineering, Anil Neerukonda Institute of Technology & Sciences is hosting a 3 days Workshop on SOLIDWORKS-2012, in association with Valonia, a student’s venture of BITS-Pilani, Hyderabad. Director of ANITS , Prof. R. Govardhana Rao, Head of the Department Prof. T.V Hanumantha Rao, Mr. M. Raja Roy, Co-convenor, faculty and students were present at the inaugural here. Addressing the gathering, HOD articulated the importance of learning such Modelling Packages and its advantages to both fresh and employed Undergraduates. He said that there is a good demand for graduates with skills in such Modelling Packages around the world. Prof. R. Govardhana Rao also stressed on the importance of the SOLIDWORKS in the upcoming field of Engineering and expressed his contentment for organising such a workshop here at ANITS. More than 80 students from various departments have attended the workshop from 27th to 29th July 2012.

IGNITION - XII

IGNITION-XII, a two day National Level Technical Symposium organized by the Department of Mechanical Engineering was inaugurated in Anil Neerukonda Institute of Technology and Sciences {ANITS}, Sangivalasa on 23rd February. Speaking on the occasion the Chief Guest, Mr. Nagangouda, Head(HR), MindTree, Bangalore said that the students can transform India from developing country to developed country in the next decade if they have right kind of attitude. There are plenty of opportunities to the aspiring engineers if they are sincere and hardworking in their efforts, he added. Prof. M M M Sarcar of Andhra University said that the technology is growing in leaps and bounds and if the students are innovative in their approach, they will excel in their respective fields. About 100 Technical papers were presented in the fields of Nano-Technology, Robotics, Green Technology and Emerging Trends in Mechanical engineering. The other events during the technical fest included 25 posters presentations, 12 short films and various robotics related activities and more than 500 students from various engineering colleges participated enthusiastically. Speaking on the valedictory function, the Chief Guest, Dr K Venkata Subbaiah, Professor, Andhra University said that the student must be strong in the fundamentals of engineering subjects to become a successful engineer. The students must develop communication skills, interpersonal skills along with technical skills to excel in the filed they choose, he added. Department of Mechanical Engineering of ANITS organized one day workshop on “Latest Technologies in Manufacturing Industry” on July 29th 2011. Prof. POSINASETTI NAGESWARA RAO well Known a as Prof.P. N. Rao from University of IOWA, USA was a Key note speaker for three sessions and enlightened on latest technologies in Manufacturing Industry such as Rapid Prototyping, Finite element analysis applications in Industry and various advanced Machining Methods. Dr.V.S.R.K. IGNITION –XI

IGNITION –XI , a two day National level technical symposium organized by the ANITS Mechanical Engineers Association was conducted on 24th & 25th February at ANITS. Inaugurating the function, the Chief Guest, Sri G.V.L.Satya Kumar, Deputy Chairman, Visakhapatnam Port Trust enlightened the students by saying that huge opportunities were available to the Mechanical Engineers and they can achieve this if they have the right attitude.
